Relieved my plantar faciitis July 14, 2010

I bought these flip flops when someone told me it relieved their plantar faciitis. I have excruciating pain when I wake in the morning or have been standing alot. I used to go barefoot at home but can no longer do even that. I was skeptical but have to say after having them for several weeks, they have relieved my pain immensely. I now wear them all the time around the house and out shopping. I even wear them to my bedside, slipping them on first thing in the morning which has helped relieve even that pain. I highly recommend them to anyone who has suffered from heel pain or from plantar faciitis as they really do work!

The Spenco support sandal is one of several brands approved by the American Podiatric Medical Association on their official website. It happens to be the least expensive one on the list (Thirty something dollars vs. fifty and upward). I ordered the pair in black. If you have a wide foot, then this is the perfect sandal for you because it runs a little wide. There is a support arch that rests behind the ball of your foot that takes getting used to at first, but it actually is comfortable once you're used to it. I found that after a week of wearing these sandals there were no achy arches, no chafed insteps from straps, or between the toe sores from the strap thong. Also, being a black sandal, I've found other brands stain your foot. I found that the Spenco did not. I would definitely buy another pair.

I purchased these flip flops because I have plantar fasciitis and needed something with good arch and heel support if I wanted to be able to wear flip flops again. These had everything I needed. I've been wearing them every day with no problems at all. I worked in the yard with them and then hosed them off and let them dry. I might order another pair to make sure I have some for next summer.

When I was diagnosed in May '10 with plantar fasciitis, the doctor told me not to go barefoot and to use inserts in my shoes. I never connected with any inserts that actually helped, but using shoes with deep heel cups and arch support (Orthaheels) has helped tremendously.
Just got my Spenco's yesterday:
Pros: deep heel cup, decent arch support, snug fitting straps that keep the sandal in place, barely feels like you are wearing shoes!
Cons: the arch is not as high as I am used to in the Orthaheels and they are a light shoe and there is not much shock absorption under the heel
I have decided to keep these purely as a house shoe - good to put on first thing when getting out of bed.

These sandals are helping me heal my plantar fasciitis, without looking dowdy or old! They are sporty, and feel great on my feet. They offer excellent arch and heel support, and the wide straps help them stay on my feet, without "flopping."
I highly recommend them.
